HostGator is Acquired by The Endurance International Group

It is now confirmed that HostGator was sold to EIG (The Endurance International Group)!

After acquiring Bluehost, Fatcow, Netfirms and FastDomain, EIG has finally acquired HostGator; one of the largest web hosting companies in the world.

How Much?

$225 Million USD is the amount that was offered to Brent Oxley, the founder of HostGator. Oxely accepted the offer, and he is probably happy with his decision. It is expected that Brent Oxley will leave HostGator in the next few days.

How Big is the Gator?

HostGator have more than 400,000 customers, 12,000 servers and over 800,000 domains. The big offer that they have received appears to be very reasonable with this amount of success.

HostGator provides very good services and has a very good reputation and satisfaction rate among its users. Its services include shared web hosting, reseller hosting, VPS hosting and Dedicated Hosting on Linux and Windows enviornments.

Let’s Take a Look at EIG!

Endurance International Group is a group of web hosting companies; they have acquired many of well-known and large web hosting companies. It has more than 2 million customers over 40 distinct brands.

Is it Good?

When looking into the previous acquisations made by EIG, EIG usually moves the brought companies data to their own data center. Moving the data will increase the possibility of down-time while transfering the data.

What is the action that I should take? Should I move my account?

The simple answer is not yet, we still don't know what EIG is going to do, they will keep the old staff (more than 750 employee), my advice is be ready and keep all your data backed up in case anything happens.
